Laravel 5 Install into subfolder

Intro

Hi there, Having issues with subfoldering my laravel project.

here is my directory structure

I have followed a few tutorial, which mention to:

• Edit index.php in the "public" directory (in my case the /public_html/test2)

• Edit server.php in laravel directory

• Edit .htaccess in laravel and test2 directories

Issues

• CSS and JS, etc files from public which are in test2 aren't being loaded correctly.
• I have never deployed a laravel application to a sub folder, please help

Here are the guides I followed

the first guide (ref 1) doesn't work with laravel 5 but I did try the second guide (image) (ref 2)
