System ODL in Laravel

I'm Paul Vagner, and lately I'm doing academic research, where I was assigned to do an ODL system in PHP.

During the research, the framework that had a major highlight was the Laravel 5. I need the opinion of you about using Laravel for the development of this type of tool. The ODL system will have the following main characteristics:

• Video Support.
• Chat for interaction between students.
• Forum

I wonder if the possible answers to the following questions that helped me in choosing and project development start.

The reliability of a system made in laravel?

What and concerns that should be taken not to have surprises during development?

Know any similar system of distance learning developed in Laravel? The Laracats is opensource ?

The main barriers Laravel?
